50 years of manned space flight is honored with a Google Doodle, Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first person to fly into space on 12th April 1961 orbiting the Earth for 108 minutes.
The space shuttled Discovery returned home for the last time after spending 14 days in space completing 365 days in space over 27 years.

Another Google doodle today, this time in honor of Thomas Edison’s 164th birthday who of course invented the light bulb and has patents in his name of over a thousand other inventions including telecommunications and electricity generation and distribution.

The W3C unveiled their new logo for HTML recently which they hope web users will display on their websites which either user or support the HTML5 standard. They have also built a bold website to showcase the logo which includes some nifty CSS3 techniques and @font-face

So I read a couple of days ago that a Web Design company from Denver in the States was planning to hold a funeral for the long lived and much despised Internet Explorer 6. It was a funny news story and some would say a bit on the strange side, what made the story more interesting and even funnier is that it seems Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Dev team got wind of their plans and sent a bouquet of flowers!
