50 years ago today on 12th April 1961 Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first person to fly into space orbiting the Earth for 108 minutes.
Google have marked the anniversary of the first manned space flight with a retro styled Google doodle, the two O’s replaced by the helmet of a 60s style Soviet space suit and a planet with a rocket which resembles Gagarin’s Vostok 3KA. When the mouse hovers over it the rocket blasts off into space.
